Dieselpunk Song of the Week - Bad Habits by Billy Fields.

Having only my childhood memories of this song, I honestly thought this was sung by one Mister Armstrong until I went searching for it. Turns out it's an Australian song from 1981. So there you go.

Be warned though: this song has been getting stuck in the heads of Australians for several decades now. You've been warned...

Dieselpunk Song of the Week - Chattanooga Choo Choo by Glenn Miller and his Orchestra.

Not to mention some fantastic dancing by the Nicholas Bros.

It is simply insane the way the Nicholas Brothers could tap synchronise a back flip, and the jump to splits over the balcony hand rail at the end was just showing off. Simply amazing.

Dieselpunk Song of the Week - Candyman by Christina Aguilera.

Most people will have heard this very Dieselpunk-y song a few times. The video is full of great images from the era, taking them and putting a modern spin on them for a whole lot of fun. A good one to show non-'punks what Dieselpunk is all about:

Song of the Week: Mack the Knife by Bobby Darin.

This song is a classic of the jazz age and has been sung by many people from Armstrong through to Sinatra. But even ol' Blue Eyes admitted that when he sang it he was just singing Bobby Darin's song. And when Sinatra admits the jersey has been retired, and he's just borrowing it... you gotta be doing something right.

I love the way the song keeps building and building throughout the piece. Not to mention Darin's 'screen' presence. A different era of cool, that's what that is.

Song of the Week - Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy from Company B, The Andrews Sisters.

Here's a classic for the Dieselpunk song of the week. The clip is from the Abbott and Costello film 'Buck Privates' (1941).

Enjoy.

Song of the Week: Caravan Palace - Rock It For Me.

Presenting the first of what will be a regular weekly column - The Tuesday Dieselpunk Song of the Week <insert doppler echo here>.

And it's a good'un. Two straight shots of Dieselpunk NeoSwing, one shot o' gypsy, and served with a fantastic video clip.Seriously, this band proves that the world needs more gypsy infused NeoSwing :)

Enjoy Caravan Palace's single Rock It For Me (if I can embed this properly):
